Our vision is to reach out and tell children about Jesus, create opportunities for Jesus to touch their lives and to help them to hold onto faith as they grow. We do this by playing, singing, chatting, praying and building relationships.
Sunday school has always been a wonderful place for children to learn about God amongst their friends.
While we don’t usually call it Sunday school these days, the idea is still the same. To teach our children about God, the bible and living as a Christian in an engaging and memorable way that provides a solid foundation for their faith as they grow up. They play games, get crafty, hear stories and have discussions – all aimed at communicating simple messages that will stay with them for life.
We run four separate children's groups on Sundays during our 10.30am service. Children are in the main service for the first fifteen minutes then go out to their groups for the rest of the service.
Crèche: Age 0–3 years
Sparklers: Age 3–4 years
Rockets: School years Foundation – year 2
Blaze: School years 3–5
The church is located at the heart of the community and we aim to provide fun, safe, affordable activities for local families. There are midweek parent and toddler groups (Buzzy Bees), and a Saturday morning family drop-in (Buzz Club) and kids’ club (Firecrackers), and our popular Thursday night Supernova group including a parents’ café.
Messy Church takes place on the first Saturday of the month, 4–6pm – visit our Families page for more information.
Age 0–3 years, Sunday mornings during the 10.30am service
We aim to create a safe, friendly environment for children under three, so that parents are secure in the knowledge that their children will have an enjoyable time whilst they are able to participate in the worship upstairs. All our volunteers are DBS checked, and receive appropriate training. We offer safe toys, healthy snacks, bible craft activity and story, and are happy for parents to stay if they wish.
Age 3–4 years, Sunday mornings during the 10.30am service
In Sparklers we explore God and the Bible together through playing, storytelling, singing and craft activities. We want every Sparkler to know they are loved by God – they are his special creation! We teach them to pray and worship and often end up learning a lot from their relationships with God. We talk about family, friendships and emotions and enjoy learning and growing together.
School years Foundation – year 2, Sunday mornings during the 10.30am service
In Rockets we love to learn about Jesus! Rockets learn through storytelling, games, chatting and being creative. As the Rockets begin to read Bible stories for themselves we give them opportunities to experience God for themselves too. We also talk about life outside church – family, friendships, school and special interests. Rockets learn that God really is everywhere with them.
School years 3–5, Sunday mornings during the 10.30am service
In Blaze we explore personal relationships with God. Blazers read the Bible together and grow in their understanding of the Bible as one big story. We give them opportunities to build a real relationship with God through prayer, discussion and being creative. We also give them plenty of opportunities to build friendships with each other and understand they are all part of one big family. We play games together, laugh together and have fun together.
All primary school aged children, Saturday mornings from 10am – 12noon
On Saturday mornings Firecrackers runs alongside Buzz Club. School aged children can come upstairs where we play games, build friendships, do crazy craft and have fun together. We provide a space that the children can make their own while parents relax downstairs in Buzz Club, taking advantage of the coffee machine!
School years Foundation – year 5, Thursday evenings from 5pm – 6.30pm
Join Nova, our very own superhero, for music, games, craft and competition and decide for yourself: is Jesus the ultimate superhero? Featuring water pistols, suits of armour and superhero capes, Supernova is a place of fun and discovery. We journey through the Bible together, sing praise songs and pray, allowing every child to decide who Jesus is for themselves. £1.50 per child.
Parents’ café runs every week during Supernova – relax and chat with tea, coffee and homemade cake.
You can also join us for The Lighthouse Cafe before Supernova – see below!
